Minister for Communications and Works Honourable Mark Vanterpool led a team of Government officials, on a tour of the cruise pier development site on Tuesday, January 20. The members of the team were Deputy Premier and Minister for Natural Resources and Labour Dr. the Honourable Kedrick Pickering, Minister for Health and Social Development Honourable Ronnie Skelton, District 6 Representative Honourable Alvera Maduro-Caines, District 8 Representative Honourable Marlon Penn and House of Assembly Member Honourable Archibald Christian.  

Project Manager Dion Stoutt and IDL Meridian representatives Percival Rhoden and Richard Starkey conducted the tour which started at the redeveloped cruise pier and ended at the land side development area where the welcome center is almost complete.

Minister Vanterpool said, “Despite some delays relating to this most important project, work is progressing nicely.  I am pleased with the quality of work here.”

Minister Vanterpool also said that he is looking forward to the completion of the works which will further elevate the Virgin Islands as a premier tourist destination.

The cruise pier expansion project will see an expanded, widened and strengthened dock and the development of landside facilities is to include a welcome centre, restaurants and shopping facilities.
