A team from the Environmental Health Division will be carrying out mosquito control measures on Jost Van Dyke on Tuesday, May 22.  The team will be on island all day inspecting properties and implementing mosquito control measures.  An island wide fogging will be carried out between 1:00 and 4:30 p.m. following the inspection.

Residents are urged to leave windows and doors open. Persons with respiratory illnesses, particularly asthma, should leave the areas being fogged for at least an hour.

Residents are reminded that fogging provides only temporary relief from mosquitoes. Householders and property owners must therefore be vigilant in preventing mosquitoes from breeding in stagnant water around their homes and businesses by carrying out weekly inspections.

For further information on how to control the Aedes aegypti mosquito, telephone the Vector Control Unit of the Environmental Health Division at 468-5110.
