WATER INTERRUPTION IN ROAD TOWN UPDATE

THURSDAY 29TH APRIL 2021

Mister Speaker I thank you for this opportunity, to provide this update. I am indeed very happy to report that the water leak has been located and repaired.  The portion of the Highway that was exposed to uncover the leak is currently being restored, the Water and Sewerage Department has reported that the water pressure should be back to normal sometime later this afternoon into the early evening.  As soon as the road has been reinstated, the barriers will be removed and traffic will resume its normal flow.

Mister Speaker I want to once again thank the people of this Territory for their understanding and their patience during that past couple of days.  I acknowledge the businesses were impacted as well as residents within the city limits.  I also acknowledge that motorists coming into the city and leaving the city were also impacted, as they would have experienced delays, traffic delays due to the impediment caused by the Water and Sewerage repair crew.

Mister Speaker I cannot end this brief statement without acknowledging yet again the hard work of officers at the Water and Sewerage Department.  This team has braced the elements, including the rain from yesterday, and the sweltering heat during the course of today to ensure that this leak was found and fixed.  I would also like to recognise the officers at the Public Works Department, who sprang into action, right after the repairs were completed, Mister Speaker, to reinstate the road.

This is indeed an excellent example of what teamwork looks like, I want these hard working officers to know that I support you, I appreciate you and I am grateful, truly grateful for your continued diligence in the execution of your duties.

I thank you Mister Speaker
