Director for the Water and Sewerage Department Mrs. Perline Scatliffe Leonard has said her team is working diligently to have the Diamond pump station resume operations.

Mrs. Scatliffe-Leonard said the pump station’s motor burned out on Tuesday March 10 and a decision has been made to fast track the installation of a new pump equipped with a defense mechanism or ‘Variable Frequency Drive’.

She said, “This mechanism drives the motor by varying the frequency and voltage supplied to the electric pump. This eliminates the burning of its electrical components and its motor and minimises interruptions to the service.”

Mrs. Scatliffe Leonard said residents at Fahie Hill, Great Mountain, Cane Garden Bay, Brewers Bay, Sea Cows Bay, Upper McNamara, Sage Mountain, Meyers, Mayaba and surrounding areas will experience water interruptions as the department works assiduously to provide a steady flow of water to residents.

The Department of Water and Sewerage seeks to ensure the provision of a continuous supply of safe potable water to all residents of the Virgin Islands.

Persons can contact the department at telephone 468-5766 or 468-5901, Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
