The Virgin Islands will join the rest of the world in observing International Museum Day on the 18^th of May under the theme “The Power of Museums”.

Local authors in collaboration with the Department of Culture will be hosting a ceremony for the launching of the book ‘Living Healthy in the Era of SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19’ on Monday, April 25.

Ms. Anika Christopher a young writer, poet and publisher has been chosen to represent the BVI at the Commonwealth Games in May.

Interested persons are invited to enter a Local Fruit Juice Competition on Saturday, April 2 as part of the activities for this year’s Farmers’ and Fishers’ Week Market and Exhibition Day at Paraquita Bay.

Minister for Education, Culture, Youth Affairs, Fisheries and Agriculture, Dr. the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley has stated that “culture is a driver of development, and at a time of change, we must broaden the debate about development to harness culture’s transformative power.”

Director of Culture Dr. Katherine Smith said the Department of Culture is committed to the development of the creative industries and is urging visual artists to participate in two (2) upcoming workshops this weekend.

Honourable Alvera Maduro-Caines is serving as Minister for Education, Culture, Youth Affairs, Fisheries and Agriculture from February 27 to March 4.
