Classes Resume On April 20 For Alternative Secondary Education

Healthy Living To Be Introduced In Schools Curriculum

Students in the Virgin Islands are to benefit from a programme that promotes the adoption of healthy lifestyle behaviours as the Government embarks on a Healthy Schools Intervention Programme.

The Ministry of Education and Culture is collaborating with the Ministry of Health and Social Development to introduce this programme into the primary schools curriculum during the 2015-2016 school year beginning with Grades 2 and 3.

Teachers, I am grateful to have this opportunity to join you all in some down time as we come together as a Ministry, but also as a community to acknowledge the hard work of educators throughout our Territory.  Tonight we say thank you for all that you do.

Many of you have found your way to the teaching profession via varying routes.  However, I have often heard many educators say that they have been inspired to teach because of the genuine curiosity and practicality of students, especially those that are in the early grades.
