For September, the Virgin Islands' community joins the rest of the world in observing World Alzheimer's Month. The observation of World Alzheimer's Month is being spearheaded by Alzheimer's Disease International to raise awareness of dementia and to help address and eliminate the stigma associated with the disease.

Minister for Health and Social Development Honourable Vincent O. Wheatley is featured with representatives from the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS)/ Pool Procurement Services (PPS). The representatives visited the Virgin Islands from July 4 to 5 to discuss ongoing pooled procurement of Health Commodities (Medical Products and Laboratory Supplies), and the proposed expansion of products for pooled procurement (Dialysis, Dental and Assistive Supplies).

Chief of Drugs and Pharmaceutical Services, Mrs. Gracia Wheatley-Smith has said her office is equipped with skills in signal detection and drug safety as part of ongoing efforts to enhance pharmacovigilance locally.
