The public is reminded that starting Thursday September 1, persons who have been working in the British Virgin Islands for five years will no longer be required to leave the Territory during the transitioning process when changing employers.

Cabinet has approved the implementation of the British Virgin Islands (BVI) Visa Exemption Programme that will go into effect from Thursday, September 1.

It is a great pleasure for me, as your Governor, to hand over Certificates of Naturalisation to a total of 52 people who have made their homes here in the Virgin Islands. Today is your day, marking a key milestone in your quest for British Citizenship. Many of you will have harboured this ambition for years. I hope and imagine that all of you are feeling a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction in attaining this citizenship status, conferring as it does the right to carry a BVI passport and to apply for a full British passport.

Further to a recent press release on the problems of British Virgin Islanders entering the US Virgin Islands (USVI) on their Territory passports, the Office of the Governor and Civil Registry and Passport Office would like to confirm that the USVI and BVI visa waiver programme remains in place, as mandated.
