Highlights from the Senior Citizens’ Month Opening and Declaration Ceremony held at the Sea Cow’s Bay Methodist Church on May 1.

A very pleasant and blessed Virgin Islands Good Morning is wished to all of you, and welcome to the beginning of our Senior Citizen’s Month of activities for 2024!

The Territory’s centenarians were honoured by the Social Development Department for their collective resilience, wisdom and resourcefulness having experienced life’s joys and sorrows for a century and beyond.

This year’s observation of Senior Citizen’s Month drew to a close with a trip to Virgin Gorda and an island tour for the seniors.

Minister for Health and Social Development Honourable Vincent O. Wheatley is featured as he participated in Open House activities at the Adina Donovan Home for the Elderly on May 26.

Seniors in the Virgin Islands were featured during a sip and paint event at the Moorings, as the Territory observes Senior Citizen’s Month.

“It is a reminder that aging should not be seen as a limitation but rather an opportunity to break free from stereotypes and embrace the endless possibilities that life has to offer guided by the love and the grace of God,” Honourable Wheatley said while addressing the Territory’s seniors at a Church Service and Declaration for Senior Citizen’s Month on Monday.

Minister for Health and Social Development Honourable Vincent O. Wheatley is urging the Virgin Islands community to challenge ageism and stereotypes associated with Senior Citizens
