Counsellors in the Territory are gearing up to inform the public about their specific roles during the National School Counselling Week 2021 being held under the theme School Counsellors: All in for All Students.

Counsellors and Public Relations Coordinators of the week’s activities, Ms. Bisa Smith and Mrs. Chonda George said the week is being celebrated from Monday, February 1 to Friday, February 5 and is expected to be filled with activities centered on sharing information and development.

“The week is focused on the unique contributions of school counsellors in the Virgin Islands and highlights the positive impact school counsellors have in helping students achieve emotional growth and career planning,” Ms. Smith said.

The week of scheduled activities is as follows:

School Awareness (Counsellors speak at their respective schools)

Tuesday, February 2

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for all counsellors at Student Services

Wednesday, February 3
8:45 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Student and Family Development Fair at Noel Lloyd Positive Action Movement Park

Thursday, February 4
11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Counsellors’ Retreat-Self-Care, Self-Love

Friday, February 5

 

Ms. Smith and Mrs. George both added, “Take a moment to thank your local school counsellor(s) who are or have been an inspiration in your lives.”

National School Counselling Week is observed annually during the first week of February.
