Premier and Minister of Finance Dr. the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley is away from the Territory attending the Amplify Summit 2025 Conference in Maimi, United States from May 21 to 25.
The 4th Commons and Overseas Territories Speakers’ Conference (COTSC) took place in London from May 13 to 16, 2025. The event was graciously hosted by the Speaker of the UK House of Commons, the Rt. Honourable Sir Lindsay Hoyle, MP. Delegates included Speakers and Clerks from various UK Overseas Territories such as Anguilla, Bermuda, the Falkland Islands, Gibraltar, Montserrat, St Helena, and The Virgin Islands.
The Department of Culture is conducting a series of workshops aimed at strengthening museum practices across the Territory in observation of International Museum Day 2025.
Cultural pride and community spirit were on full display as the Social Development Department hosted its Seniors’ Cultural Soirée as part of the observance of Senior Citizens’ Month 2025.

The Ministry of Health and Social Development completed a five-day workshop designed to strengthen the Territory’s ability to carry out Macro Social and Economic Analysis (MSEA) and Institutional Assessment (IA).
Minister for Health and Social Development, Honourable Vincent O. Wheatley has praised the dedication and resilience of the Territory’s nurses, describing them as the “heartbeat of the healthcare system”.

In a significant step toward addressing the long-standing water access challenges for local farmers at Paraquita Bay and strengthening the Virgin Islands’ food security, a contract was signed for Consultancy Services for Engineering Design and Construction Management of Water Mains and Civil Works for the Farmers’ Reservoir on 13 May, 2025.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Social Development, Ms. Tasha Bertie, paid tribute to nurses across the Virgin Islands at a commemorative luncheon hosted by the BVI Nurses Association on Monday, 12 May.
