British Virgin Islands’ residents and homeowners are being reminded that the improper drainage of wastewater on to public streets, roadways and ghuts constitutes a violation of the Public Health Act.

Minister for Natural Resources, Honourable Vincent Wheatley has announced that the Cane Garden Bay beach is safe for swimming and is ready for use by the public.

The Cane Garden Bay beach is closed for recreational use until further notice due to results of water quality testing.

The Environmental Health Division will be holding an emergency Food Handlers’ session today, July 26 at 1:00 p.m. at the Ward's Building. 

The public including private garbage haulers are notified that in an effort to control indiscriminate dumping of waste at the incinerator at Pockwood Pond, access to the site will not be allowed beyond 4:00 p.m. daily.

Assistant Manager at the Department of Waste Management, Mr. Neville Allen has said that access to the Pockwood Pond incinerator will be limited to 4:00 p.m. daily in an effort to control the practice of indiscriminate dumping.
