Madam Speaker, officials in the Ministry of Health have been monitoring developments related to the unusual detection of monkeypox cases in countries where the virus does not normally spread, particularly given our dependence on international travel and tourism.
Deputy Chief Environmental Health Officer, Ms. Henrietta Alexander is urging residents to be aware of the potential for mosquito breeding around their premises and to be vigilant especially since the Territory has been experiencing moderate rainfall over the last few weeks.

The ‘Protect Each Other’ Vaccination Drive-Thru will open this weekend from Saturday, August 28 to Sunday, August 29 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and will continue Monday, August 30 to Tuesday, August 31 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The Government of the Virgin Islands will host another ‘Protect Each Other’ Vaccination Drive-Thru from Saturday, August 28 to Tuesday, August 31 to provide easier access to persons getting their second dose at the Festival Grounds in Tortola from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Ministry of Health and Social Development is notifying the community that Simmonds Preschool will be closed temporarily for 14 days following the detection of suspected and confirmed COVID-19 positive cases in the pediatric population.
The Public Health Unit is notifying persons who attended the Robinson O’Neal Primary School and/or the Bregado Flax Educational Centre graduation ceremonies on June 29 that additional confirmed cases have been detected.
