Persons who have expressed an interest in working for the 2015 General Elections and have received confirmation from the Supervisor of Elections are invited to attend a meeting on Thursday, May 21 at 5:00 p.m.
In accordance with section 23 (1) of the Elections Act, 1994, the Office of the Supervisor of Elections is informing the public that the Revised List of Voters was published today, May 18.
The Elections Office is informing the public of a change to the Returning Officer for the Sixth Electoral District for the upcoming General Elections scheduled for Monday, June 8.
His Excellency the Governor Mr. John S. Duncan, OBE today issued the Writs of Election which formally pave the way for the upcoming General Election.
The Writs are formal instructions issued by the Governor in accordance with the Elections Act. They instruct the appointed Returning Offices to carry out their functions on Nomination Day and Polling Day on the given dates. They also instruct the officers to report the election results to the Governor not later than June 9.
The Government of the Virgin Islands is advising the public, especially electoral candidates and organising groups of electoral candidates, that the requirements to apply for development planning permission to display political campaign signs have been waived for the 2015 general election campaigning period.
In accordance with the Elections Act 1994 and amendments, the Deputy Supervisor of Elections shall assist the Supervisor of Elections in the discharge of her functions and perform such duties or exercise such powers as the Supervisor of Elections may direct.
Residents can log on to www.bvi.gov.vg and locate the Government tab on the left hand of the screen. Once the drop down list appears residents should scroll down to the Elections tab then select the 2015 Preliminary Voter’s List.
The Supervisor of Elections is informing the public that in accordance with Section 18 (6) of the Elections Act 1994 and Amendments, the Preliminary Voters’ List is available for inspection for a period of four days from May 11 to 14.
