The Government of the Virgin Islands will be amending the current COVID-19 protocols as it continues efforts to enhance public safety and address uncooperative behavior of persons on quarantine.

Since my last status report on the COVID-19 situation delivered from the House of Assembly on Thursday, 31^st December, there have been some developments which need to be brought to your attention as I’ve pledged to keep you fully informed.

The Ministry of Health and Social Development has confirmed that someone who attended the club Coco-Maya, in Spanish Town, Virgin Gorda from approximately 10:00 p.m. until 12:00 midnight on Old Year’s night has tested positive for COVID-19. 

The Ministry of Health and Social Development is advising persons who attended or came into contact with persons who attended Old Year’s and New Year’s festivities to monitor themselves for approximately 14 days for symptoms of corona virus.

Mr. Speaker, I am pleased to present an update on the Department of Waste Management’s ongoing efforts to increase recycling and waste reduction in the Territory.
